Personal Tutoring for B40

Power of 1-to-1 Tutoring

In 1984, educationalist Benjamin Bloom present research that showed the average student under tutoring performed about 2 standard deviations above the control class (above 98% of students).

He called this the “2 Sigma Problem” — “2 sigmas” because students did 2 standard deviations better, but “problem” because while 1-to-1 tutoring is effective, it was too expensive for most societies to bear the cost.

Instant Help,
Lasting Impact

Volunteer tutoring sessions are priced at RM1 per session, to make it affordable for our target focus areas. It’s a small fee, but has a huge impact:

• Students are more engaged because there’s a cost they pay

• Volunteers’ time are not taken for granted

• The proceeds are then donated towards long-term education NGOs
